Jazz Doctors: A Classic Jazz band
Jazz Doctors 2008
The Jazz Doctors is a group of jazz musicians who have played for various organizations over the past 20 years. The original group was formed by Fred McCormack, a retired Pharmacist on piano, with Linsy Farris, an Ophthalmologist on upright bass and Art Hartwick, an Orthodontist on drums. The original Freddie Mac's trio was reorganized in 2002 by Dr. Ron Kraus, a Psychologist on trumpet, and became the: Jazz Doctors. After Fred retired in 2006 the group added Spencer Morris on keyboards and Tad Schaefer, a hospital engineer on guitar. Musicians who currently play with the Jazz Doctors include Joe Selly (guitar), David Licht (drums) Ronen Mikay (Tenor saxophone) and Will Dougherty (keyboards). Other musicians that perform with the group include Dr. Steve Alexander (Piano) and Dr. David Levine (Drums, Vocals)

Perhaps the common medical background of the original group is what makes the band fit so well together. Each of these musicians listens to the others and makes their contribution in such a way that one unified listening experience results. The American songbook and current jazz standards make up their repertoire. You can tell they are having fun and as a result their listening audience does too, whether they are enjoying diner and table conversation or observing and listening to each musical instrument take the lead with the support of his colleagues.
